Baxter at 2yo.

We have long been an admirer of Baxter, so when the opportunity came to make him a part of the herd we jumped at the chance.  Based on the way things have been falling apart at the seams on the home front this year (The car gasket blowing, the roof leaking etc...need we say more? :) ) we needed to pass him up when he was put up for sale.  When Tracy of Soldier Mountain Alpines mentioned a buck trade on the Dist 7 list, we thought it was a great opportunity to get our hands on him.   We traded *B Pearl Valley WRA Maximus for Baxter.  We have several daughters from Max plus plenty of him in the tank and felt we could let him go to incorporate Baxter into the herd.  So you will now find Maximus in Idaho and Baxter is now in Oregon!  It will be wonderful to keep seeing these bucks used, as they continue to contribute more data to the genetic data base. Baxter is a massive buck, but with a very congenial personality.  In 2006 as a 2yo he appraised 90/EEV while scoring excellent in head, rear legs, back, rump and 50 in stature.  Two of his yearling daughters appaised with "E" mammaries.  In 2008 at the age of 4 he appraised 91/EEE with "E"s again in head, rear legs, back and rump.  He excels in length of body, & dairy character.  We are really looking forward to using him this year!  It was great to meet Tracy and we were equally pleased we were able to pull off this swap with her and Albert and keep these two bucks working!  Thanks Tracy!
